NEW MINISTRY FOR US

I was asked a few months ago if I was interested in accepting the executive director position for a mission to Ukraine.  I accepted (there is no pay involved) and we are well on our way into this new role. I have been joined in this by new board members whom I greatly respect. I ministered in Ukraine in August for 3 weeks. A big part of this trip was encouraging and helping the pastors. Without them the work could not continue.  For instance, in Kramatorsk 23 of 27 pastors have left the city.  The four left could leave but they stay to minister to refugees and preach the gospel.  We need these pastors.  They have to eat and most of their congregations are not able to give. FIVE THOUSAND BOOKLETS FOR THE NATION OF GEORGIA

We received a request to print, "Does God Exist?" in the Georgian lanaguage. This was from our ministry partners in that wonderful nation, Fabula Publishing. With your help we were able to send them $2,400 to pay for these booklets, which provide scientific, historical and biblical proofs of the faith.  We hope that the booklets will not only help agnostics and atheists, but believers struggling with hard questions.

FRUITFUL TIME IN DALLAS AT NRB

My publisher asked me to attend the NRB Christian media convention in Dallas in March. While there I met with a Ukrainian pastor and chaplain as well as with Conectar, a ministry in Columbia that is very interested in using the new Spanish translation of my book The Three Great Churches.  This would mean, if approved, that thousands of Spanish-speaking Catholics would be studying the Christian principles of this book. TRIP TO GUATEMALA REVEALING

I went to Guatemala in March to plan for an upcoming evangelistic outreach for the city of Chichicastenango. Ninety-seven percent of people in this city of 100,000 do not go to a gospel-preaching church. Please keep this outreach in prayer. As Paul said, "A wide and effective door of ministry has been opened to me, and there are many adversaries."

ESTONIA MINISTRY TRIP SUCCESFUL

I was asked to be part of a ministry team going to Estonia to help Ukrainian refugees in September.  Shepherd's Purse director Mike Wetzel led the trip, during which we were able to evangelize Estonians in the capital of Tallinn. 21 accepted Christ the first day in the park, working alongside Estonian Joanna Volkova, Ukrainian Liza Avilova and others. I was able to share the gospel in Russian with many people. It was really an amazing time. We then went east the border towns and ministered to Ukrainian refugees both practically with humanitarian aid and with the good news of Jesus. I stayed over one day in Estonia after the team left to meet with our AGWM missionary team in Tallin. Loved Estonia. Happy to see how the gospel is getting out there. With your help I was able to print a few thousand tracts in Russian and Ukrainian which we gave to the people we ministered to. We also printed a tract for new believers -- very helpful for those who accepted Christ. We shipped the remainder of these tracts to Ukraine to be used by our ministry partners in Kremenchuk.

UKRAINIAN TRANSLATION DONE

The Three Great Churches has now been translated into Ukrainian by translator Natalka. We are now in the editing phase, with the help of pastor's wife Tanya Burda. Please pray for funds for printing, that it is typeset soon and will reach those who need it.  The book compares Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant beliefs. It especially explains why we as protestants believe being born again is essential (and not the sacraments, etc.).   To read this book in English, go to Amazon.com.

SPANISH TRANSLATION DONE!

Thanks to two dear friend, AB and PB, the Spanish translation of the Three Great Churches has been completed thanks to translator Eduard in Nicaragua and editor Pastor Jose Maria Almarza in Spain. I am very excited to see what the Lord will do with this book in the largely Catholic Spanish-speaking world. Please pray as we work to typeset the book and get it published in South America and in Spain.

EVANGELISM IN THE CAUCUSUS HITS ROAD BLOCK

With your help we were able to place Christian books on the 3 main e-book sites in Georgia.  We are not seeing the response we had expected from these e-books. We opted to go a different direction in printing a booklet for atheists/agnostics and believers in the Georgian language (See the top of this page.)

ABOUT US:

As you may remember Sheila and I served for 25 years as missionaries in Russia and Belgium.  We are "retired-active" Michigan missionaries, still with AG World Missions.  Since we "retired" (and the war started) I have ministered 4 times in Ukraine, several times in Belgium, twice in the nation of Georgia, twice in Guatemala, and once each in Estonia and Mexico.

OTHER NEWS

Sheila and I served as interim pastors of Oil City Assembly of God (near Mt. Pleasant MI) for seven months (until January 2021) when a pastor was found. We enjoyed this very much.  Great people.  I also served on the board of Endeavor House, a ministry to recovering addicts and alcoholics, for two years.
